ANCIENT CITY OF EPHESUS

Located near modern-day Selçuk, Ephesus was once a major Roman port city and a vital commercial center of Asia Minor. It marked both the beginning and end of the King’s Road, one of the world’s most important ancient trade routes, alongside the Silk Road and the Spice Road.

During your guided walk, you will discover:

  • Magnificent Roman temples and public buildings

  • Library of Celsus, the third-largest library of the Ancient World

  • Great Theatre of Ephesus, one of the largest theaters of the Roman era

  • Well-preserved marble streets reflecting daily life in antiquity

HOUSE OF MOTHER MARY

The House of the Virgin Mary (Meryemana) is one of the most sacred Christian pilgrimage sites in Turkey. According to Catholic and Orthodox tradition, Virgin Mary spent her final years here under the care of Saint John the Apostle.

Although not directly mentioned in the Bible, the site gained recognition in the 19th century following the visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich, which led to the discovery of this peaceful stone house. Today, it is revered by both Christians and Muslims and offers a serene, spiritual atmosphere.

THE BASILICA OF ST.JOHN

The Basilica of St. John, located in Selçuk, was built in the 6th century AD by Emperor Justinian I on what is believed to be the burial site of St. John the Apostle.

St. John is thought to have lived in Ephesus during his final years and to have written the Gospel of John here. Despite earthquake damage over the centuries, the ruins still convey the basilica’s former grandeur and profound religious significance..

TERRACE HOUSE OF EPHESUS

The Terrace Houses of Ephesus, also known as the Houses of the Rich, reveal how Ephesus’ elite lived during Roman times (1st century BCE – 7th century CE).

Inside these remarkably preserved homes, you will see:

  • Intricate mosaics and colorful frescoes

  • Advanced underfloor heating systems

  • Elegant courtyards and refined living spaces
